This diet simply restricts calorie intake, while it makes you increase proteins, fat, and carbohydrates. So, you will get 40% of calories from carbohydrates, 30% from fat and 30% from proteins. The Zoe Diet helps you balance your insulin levels, and that makes you lose weight, as they say. Every meal is carefully planned so you eat less protein while you make the intake of carbohydrates. This is a sample of a dinner in this diet. 1 slice of cheese (low-fat), hamburger meat (4.5 ounces), 1 slice of bread and small fruit servings.
The good sides of the Zone Diet are: variety of food you can eat during this diet is fantastic, much better than in other diets of this kind, it is really easy to use, in the beginning you will know which kind of food you must avoid, you have meals often, so there are small chance you will be hungry. Other benefits are: you have an intake of healthy fat, it helps you control and maintain your sugar controls and you will certainly lose weight. On the other side, your intake of calcium will be low, some nutrition’s are missing (vitamin C, folic acid, fiber, and minerals), this plan is good for most people, but there are some who cannot use this diet, because of its dietary balance (30-30-40). Maybe the worse drawbacks are kidney risk, high levels of fat, caloric restriction and it is expensive.
The Zone Diet is really good if you want to lose weight, but claims that it can reduce heart disease and diabetes are not proved. In one study, of 15 diets used for weight loss, the Zone Diet was in the top five.
